Entity Signals

Consistent facts and references that help search engines and AI systems understand what a business is, where it operates, and what it is known for.

Entity signals are the repeated, consistent facts that define a business across the web. Examples include the business name, location, phone number, service categories, founder or team information, industry, reviews, social profiles, directory entries, and mentions on trusted sites.

Search engines and AI systems use entity signals to reduce ambiguity. If the same business is described consistently across its website, Google Business Profile, directories, profiles, articles, and structured data, it becomes easier to connect the business to relevant searches.

Entity Signal Problems

Weak entity signals happen when a business uses different names, inconsistent addresses, vague service labels, thin location context, or generic profile copy that does not distinguish it from competitors.
